Ren Wanden – President
My husband and I attended the last Antenatal Classes for 2014 at Lower Hutt Parents Centre and Baby and You Classes in 2015. In early 2017 I was convinced to join the committee as the Class Bookings Coordinator by some of our Antenatal Class friends, I become President in 2018. It’s a busy committee with a fabulous group of parents striving to provide the best parent education to local families.
Meg Waghorn – Secretary
Hi, my name is Meg and I live in Lower Hutt with my husband and three year old son. I’m also a primary school teacher. I joined the Lower Hutt Parents Centre committee as facilitator co-ordinator in 2016 and am now the secretary. I think antenatal and parent education is really important, especially for first-time parents, and helps strengthen our community. I’m happy to be able to help to continue to deliver our programmes by volunteering on the committee and the social side of working with other parents is fun too!
Rose Thomas – Parent Education Administrator
Hi my name is Rose, I am the Parent Education Coordinator for Lower Hutt Parents Centre. After completing one of our antenatal classes I joined the committee hoping to make some new friends and give back to the organisation. I absolutely love my role here, it means I get to meet and help loads of new parents (which means lots of new babies to gush over!). I am Mum to one active toddler and in my “spare” time can be found in the garden or DIYing. I look forward to meeting you at one of our events.
Dani Burdon – Facilitator Coordinator
My husband and I signed up to LHPC Antenatal Classes when I was pregnant with our son back in 2016. I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and didn’t hesitate at the chance to give back by joining the committee and volunteering with the antenatal classes to help expectant parents have a more informed journey into parenthood. I also manage the facilitator bookings – if you are keen to facilitate a class please get in touch to learn more.
Stacey Lake – Social Media Administrator
I joined the Lower Hutt Parents Centre Committee in 2016 wanting to give back to the community and give support to new parents. I took on the role of putting together the welcome packs for new members as well as managing the Facebook Page for the Centre.
I’m also the face behind Stacey lake Photography and love photographing growing bellies, the birth of babies as well as new-born babies and families. I love being part of this amazing team of woman who dedicate their time to running a successful centre for all new parents.
Tracey Royer – Committee Member
I grew up in the Hutt and after spending several years overseas I returned to raise a family. I currently work for a law firm in Lower Hutt, specializing in family law matters, and for 2019 I’ll be a full blown midwifery student. I’m a new committee member and enjoy providing assistance and support wherever I’m needed.
Diane Eden – Membership Officer, Acting Treasurer and Life Member
I joined Lower Hutt Parents Centre way back in 1996 to attend an antenatal class before the birth of my daughter. Parents Centre provided a great way to meet a group of liked minded people, the support and friendship from the people in this class was invaluable in my parenting journey. Over 20 years later, we are still in regular contact with one family from our class.
I joined the committee in 1997 and have been helping here ever since. During this time, I have carried out numerous roles including Treasurer, President, Baby & You Co-ordinator and filling in with various other roles as required (this is my second run as Treasurer). During my time on the committee I have met some fantastic people and made a number of long-term friends.
