Childbirth Educators

Jules Oldroyd

Hi, I’m Jules one of the Childbirth Educators at Lower Hutt Parents Centre.

I’ve been teaching childbirth education (CBE) classes since 2004 and am still as passionate about sharing the journey to parenthood with parents now as I was when I started on my Childbirth Education journey.

I have teenage 4 boys, all of which have led me along different parenting pathways.  Parenting is probably the biggest “on the job” learning that I’ve ever done. It truly has been a roller coaster of a ride with each age and stage bringing different learnings and experiences at every twist and turn.  I count myself as extremely fortunate to be able to share my passion of childbirth and parenting with new parents and be a small part of your exciting journey as you embark on your own fair ground ride.

In 2009 I began teaching Baby and You, the Parents Centre parenting course which follows on from CBE classes.  It’s so rewarding being able to help new Mums and Dads, troubleshooting all manner of issues, initially helping out with the top of the “Help Me” list which all new parents tend to face namely breastfeeding and sleeping issues.  This complements my other main passion which is helping parents with breastfeeding issues. I trained as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselling Programme Administrator in 2015 which has enabled me to train mothers as Peer Counsellors to provide mother to mother peer support for breastfeeding issues within the community.  I have also been fortunate to be able to run some breastfeeding programmes for professionals who work with breastfeeding Mums. I am so fortunate to be able to do something that I love and look forward to meeting you at the start of your parenting journey

Tania Watson

Hi my Name is Tania Watson.

I gained my Diploma in Childbirth Education in 2012 and have worked with Upper Hutt Parents Centre since then, I have become involved with Lower Hutt Parents Centre in the last year.

My enjoyment in facilitating CBE classes has only increased over the years, and I learn something from every class! My husband David and I are proud parents to 2 beautiful (and rather stubborn) children, our daughter Carys is 8 years old and our son Rhys is 6. Outside of CBE I enjoy playing squash and tennis. I also coach my daughter’s netball team, I also enjoy reading and doing cross stitch.

Stacy Malcom

Tena Koutou mamas and papas and whanau. Ko Stacy toku ingoa. During the day I’m at home and in my community nurturing my family,  and in the evening I love spending time with new parents-to-be as a Childbirth Educator. I also love hanging out on the beach, op shops, baking, and eating curry.

My goal is that everyone who attends my classes feels empowered to be loving and good enough parents – starting in pregnancy, transitioning in birth, and creating opportunity for a little mind that can change the world in the years that follow. Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui; be strong, be courageous, be patient. See you soon!
